    Oslo (Blogging / Journal)

Oslo is a stunning blend of refinement and organization. It’s a mature two-column theme fit for portfolio and general blog use, built around a supremely customizable sidebar and beautiful typography.

    Overview

    • Oslo is an extremely customizable dual-channel theme for virtually any use.
    • Oslo's sidebar is a perfect nexus, both easily brandable and intuitively organized.
    • Ultra-modern typography and simple image controls round out Oslo's gorgeous face.
    • Fully responsive on all devices.

    Features

    Responsive Layout
Oslo is fully responsive and scales to fit any size device and browser.

    Two-Column Layout
Oslo’s built with two beautiful columns to double your blog’s visual impact. On larger screens, your posts will be displayed side-by-side with metadata cleanly tucked away.

    Striking Sidebar
Oslo’s masterfully organized and hugely cutomizable sidebar is invincible. Add as much or as little as info as you’d like, upload a background image, and adjust Oslo’s black overlay to create the perfect panel.

    Setup

All of Oslo’s settings can be accessed using the Customize page for your site. Login to your site’s Dashboard and select Appearance > Customize from the left-hand menu.

Now you can customize your site using the bar on the left-hand side of the screen. See below for more information on how to use these tools.

    Setup: Logo
To set your logo, select Theme from the Customize page. Next, upload your logo image with the upload tool under the Logo heading.

If you’d like to display the logo by itself, open the Site Title section and make sure that the Display Header Text box is unchecked.

    Setup: Link Colors
To set the link colors, select Colors and use the Link Color and Active Link Color tools. The active link color will be used when you hover your mouse over a link.

    Setup: Sidebar Background
To set the background color, select Colors and use the Header Top/Bottom Background Color tools. Having two background colors allows you to have a gradient background!

To set a sidebar background image, select Header Image from the Customize page. Here you can add a new image, or select one from your media library. Note: the background image will be resized to fill the entire sidebar, so make sure it’s a large image!

To make the sidebar background image semi-transparent, select Header Image from the Customize page, and use the Header Image Opacity selector.

    Setup: Sidebar Text
To change the sidebar text colour, select Colors from the Customize page and use the Header Text Color tool. Note: this doesn’t change the menu text colour, which always stays white for better readability.

To hide or show the site title and description, open the Site Title & Tagline section and use the Display Header Text box. You can also hide the theme credits here using the Display Credits box.

    Setup: Sidebar Menu
The menu always has white text on a black background, but you can change how much of your sidebar background color/image shows through.
To change the transparency of the menu background, select Theme from the Customize page, and use the Menu Background Opacity selector.
If you have a sidebar background image, you can also choose to apply a blur effect when the menu is open. Select Header Image from the Customize page and use the Blur box. Note: if you do not have a background image set, this doesn’t do anything.

    Setup: Pages
By default, your pages will show a Published date at the bottom. If you would like to remove this, select Theme from the Customize page and uncheck the Display Metadata on Pages box.

    Setup: Social Media Links
Oslo gives you the option of adding social media links to the bottom of the sidebar.

To add a link, select Theme from the Customize page. Here you will see quite a few text boxes where you can enter your links. For some social links, you can enter either a URL or your username. For example, if you’d like to add your Twitter profile, you would enter http://twitter.com/[your user name] or just [your user name].

Currently, Oslo offers support for: Bandcamp, Behance, Delicious, deviantART, Digg, Dribbble, Etsy, Facebook, Flickr, Foursquare, Google+, Instagram, Last.fm, LinkedIn, E-Mail, Myspace, Pinboard, Pinterest, Rdio, Skype, Soundcloud, Spotify, StumbleUpon, Svpply, Twitter, Vimeo, and YouTube.

    Setup: Comments
Oslo supports comments via the Jetpack Comments plugin on WordPress.com. Comments work out of the box, so you can start posting and holding discussions around your content immediately. WordPress does, however, give you options for managing how comments are displayed and when.

To display comments on a per post basis, open up the post you’d like to enable or disable comments on by clicking Posts > All Posts in the left-hand sidebar in your Dashboard. Find the post you want to change, and click on it.
Once you’re on the posts’s edit page, locate the tab toward the top right-hand side of the page labeled Screen Options. To display the options for toggling comments on/off, make sure the box next to Discussion is checked. This will reveal an additional box in the editor below labeled Discussion.

To enable comments on a post, check the box next to Allow Comments in the Discussion box. You can do the same for pingbacks and trackbacks if you wish. To disable comments, just leave the box next to Allow Comments unchecked.

If you’d like to control how your comments are displayed when they’re enabled, select Settings > Discussion in the left-hand sidebar in your Dashboard. From here, you’ll be able to control the specifics of how comments are displayed on the page. For more information about customizing comments, check out the WordPress.com comments documentation.

    Support

We’ve been making themes since 2009. Truth to be told, we wouldn’t still be afloat had we not acknowledged, early on, that each individual customer is important. Exceptional, human customer support matters to us a great deal.

Each one of our themes comes fully backed by our dedicated support team (all of us). We’re good people, with real faces, and we like what we do. We’ve also created a help centre so you can get help at any hour. Send us an email or tweet at us during office hours (we’re in PST!).

We’re always happy to answer questions. Not sure what theme is best? Looking for a particular feature? Get in touch.

  • Minimul Top rate WordPress Theme (Inventive)

Minimul Top rate WordPress Theme (Inventive)

    Welcome to Minimul WordPress theme

This hand crafted, bloat-free, minimal and elegant theme was designed specifically for several key features. You can set your portfolio, blog or the custom home page to be your front page in WordPress so that you can target your aaudience accordingly. My project outline when starting development / design was to meet the following requirements / targets:

    • A personal website to offer your services / abilities / resume.
    • An ultra clean and usable portfolio website.
    • A superb blog experience with major focus on content and readability.
    • Customize everything to your own look and feel – easily!
    • Bloat-Free and plugin powered.
    • Great SEO support using semantic formatting and headings.

    Portfolio Pages

The portfolio section is masonry powered and filtered via categories so that you may offer a filterable index with all portfolio items, or alternatively split your portfolio in to categories and give them their own unique pages and menu items. I wanted maximum impact for the portfolio index pages and so they are full width. They will neatly arrange featured images if all the same size in a grid format, or alternatively upload portrait and landscape sized images and it will neatly stack them in a masonry format – no need to choose anything for this, it’s automatic. Single portfolio pages are 100% pure content. This gives you the freedom to lay things out however you wish and the specific project information is displayed towards the bottom of the page.

    Blog Index

Blog pages are displayed using a golden ratio format for width, font size and line height. This gives the best reading experience for your users. The blog also supports many of the popular Post Formats such as standard, gallery, link, quote, video embeds, video playlists, audio embeds and audio playlists all using the new built-in functions of WordPress without the need for plugins. Featured images enjoy a prominent wider format at the top of your posts if set and the super clean comments will encourage engagement with your audience. Long format articles are also catered for using page breaks so that you can spread your article over multiple pages with automatic page pagination.

    Dedicated Home Page

The dedicated home page template has a bold clean header with a dedicated widget area so that you can add any content such as in the live demo, or you could add a carousel, slider, video, form – pretty much anything. The content for the page is displayed under the header so you have full freedom for anything you wish. The home page is also a wide format compared to blog pages etc to give strong impact to visitors landing on your site.

    Plugin Powered

As a major advocate for removing specific functionality away from themes we have been on a mission in the past 6 months to create, maintain and expand our range of 100% free, GPL licensed plugins and not include the functions in to the themes themselves. This is because having built-in custom post types, meta boxes etc. should be powered by plugins, not a theme, as per WordPress standards and to best serve our users. This means if you swap themes in the future, your data is safe and not lost. Something everyone can appreciate.

The following custom plugins are produced, maintained and supported by us:

    • Cr3ativ Carousel
    • Cr3ativ Portfolio
    • Cr3ativ Post Carousel
    • Cr3ativ Shortcodes

    Bloat-Free

We don’t build on a framework of multiple CSS files that are frustrating and bloated. We write each line of CSS and code in our themes, which means they are easier to edit and customize, load quicker and produce less strain on your server and provide better experience for you and your visitors.

    Colors, Images or Patterns

Being able to choose your colors is always a good thing to help strengthen your brand. Some go too far with options. Some users get overwhelmed with options. In principle giving you absolute freedom for customization sounds great, in practice in falls on it’s face and just causes frustration. We develop with the user in mind, so when it comes to options we prefer to think about how you will use it, then design and offer options around that. We group elements together, based on the original design, so that rather than 30 color pickers, you get a more manageable 5. Elements share the same colors in the original design, because they look correct. Now when you alter your colors, you don’t have a mind meltdown trying to work things out.

It’s the same with image / pattern uploads. Rather than having separate image backgrounds, then separate pattern uploads, then how do those patterns repeat, or what if we just want a single color, we go the easier route. 3 sections required focus. The pop-out sidebar, the menu control button area and the body. We provide the following for those sections:

    • Color Picker (used as a fallback if an image / pattern is not chosen).
    • Image Upload (can be a big image or repeatable image.
    • Image Repeat (choose repeat, repeat x or repeat y)

With these options, plus the color pickers for your content you’ve got everything covered. Simple, elegant and powerful. That’s how we like to roll.

    The Options

Our rock-solid theme options based on the very popular OptionTree framework enables you to upload and set your logo, your fav icon, your ‘Read More’ text output, Google Analytics tracking code snippet, custom CSS, and copyright message.

    Retina Ready

Although the full design is 100% image free. We load retina.js to automatically serve retina sized images if you desire. All icons used in the theme are font based scaling perfectly to any size and looking sharp on any device.

    Responsive and Fluid

The design is fluid for the most part with break points for popular screen sizes to ensure correct font sizing, spacing and line heights, meaning you look awesome on all devices and screen sizes from the largest monitors to the smallest smartphone screens.

    Pop-Out Sidebar

The pop-out menu and sidebar doesn’t alter in orientation depending on the device to ensure a consistent experience across all platforms. It also holds your widgets if you wish to use any, such as, your social icons, links, recent posts, calendar or even a carousel or video.

Next, from the light grey menu on the left, select the Colors menu. From here, you’ll have access to a color picker where you can either set your color using the color picker tool, or, by entering a hexadecimal number (e.g. #000000) into the box between the “Current Color” and “Default” buttons.

As you change your color, the preview on the right will update to reveal your changes in real time. Once you’ve picked a color, click the blue “Save & Publish” button at the top of the grey menu to save your changes.

    Setup: Alternative Single Post Layouts
Alto comes with the option of changing the style of your single post layout (also know as the “permalink page” for your posts). To change the style of the single post layout, login to the Dashboard for your site and from the left-hand menu, select Appearance > Customize.

    Setup: Comments
Alto supports comments out of the box, so you can start posting and holding discussions around your content immediately. WordPress does, however, give you options for managing how comments are displayed and when.

To display comments on a per post basis, open up the post you’d like to enable or disable comments on by clicking Posts > All Posts in the left-hand sidebar in your Dashboard. From here, click on either the title of the post or the Edit link beneath the post to view the edit screen.

Once you’re there, locate the tab toward the top right-hand side of the page labeled “Screen Options.” To display the options for toggling comments on/off, make sure the box next to “Discussion” is checked. This will reveal an additional box in the editor below labeled “Discussion.”

To enable comments on a post, check the box next to “Allow Comments” in the Discussion box. You can do the same for pingbacks and trackbacks if you wish. To disable comments, just leave the box next to “Allow Comments” unchecked.

If you’d like to control how your comments are displayed when they’re enabled, select Settings > Discussion from the left-hand sidebar in your Dashboard. From here, you’ll be able to control the specifics of how comments are displayed on the page. For more information about customizing comments, check out the WordPress.org comments documentation.
